About
Benjamin’s current research is a philosophical inquiry into the crossroads between sounding events and the bodily processes of listening and vocalization. He is particularly interested in the significance of the voice in Buddhist oral practices. Specifically, he seeks to understand how the voice is represented in Buddhist traditions and thereafter sensed, perceived, and/or ontologized by contemporary practitioners of Buddhism through the sonic act of chant.
Benjamin holds a Bachelor of Music (Hons) degree in clarinet performance from the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music, National University of Singapore and a Master of Music degree from King’s College London, where he was awarded the Hilda Margaret Watts Prize.
