About

I'm a composer/artist/performer/curator working in concert and installative formats.

My core areas of research interest are in 20th and 21st century modernism; experimentalism; Black/African diasporic studies; German studies; postcolonialism; and aesthetic practices of the
Baroque/Early Modern period in Europe and the Americas.

Prior to coming to the University of Chicago I was involved variously with composition projects presented, awarded, or underwritten by diverse groups and soloists (LA Phil with wild Up, ASCAP, New York Virtuoso Singers, Cleveland Chamber Symphony, chamber players of the Cleveland Orchestra and St. Louis Symphony) in addition to touring the U.S., Germany, and Switzerland as a soloist, chamber player, and orchestral musician (NY Phil Biennial, New World Symphony, festivals of Aspen and Lucerne, WQXR Q2 etc.). Since 2017 I have increasingly presented other kinds of work alongside making concert music (text-based, conceptual, performance art...) and honed a teaching practice (e.g. from 2017–19 I taught composition, chamber music, and precollege theory at Webster University).
